Qualification Description

Mechanical Engineering involves the design and development of machinery, ranging from simple mechanisms up to more complex machineries and structures. In this programme students will acquire skills and understanding of processes of Mechanical Engineering. This includes the planning, designing, manufacturing or construction of these structures, as well as operating and maintaining them. Mechanical Engineers use an understanding of core concepts of forces, material structures and motions such as Kinetics and thermodynamics (application of heat and mechanical power) to create and analyse a wide variety of machines structures and processes.

Entry Requirements

Entry to N4

  • National Senior certificate Gr. 12 with min 40% in Maths, Science and English
  • Dully completed NATED N3
  • Dully completed NCV Level 4 (Rating 3)

Entry to N5

  • Dully completed  and all subject passed NATED N4 or 
  • Equivalent qualification

Entry to N6

  • Dully completed  and all subject passed NATED N5 or 
  • Equivalent qualification

Examination Eligibility

In order to be eligible to book a seat to write the National DHET Examinations in Civil Engineering, the Student / learner must meet the following requirements: 
– DP 40%
– Attendance 80%

Practical Skills Training

Practical training is a very important component in the Mechanical engineering education. at MGM-DETC we prepare our students / learners for workplace and professional life at early stages. We believe that practical experience is a desirable characteristic for engineers, we have put great effort to establish a relationship with privates’ entities to provide student / learners in variety of field where students can practice to prepare them for the future professional life.
Mechanical engineering is essentially a practical career where the theoretical knowledge has to be always accompanied by practical applications. Therefore, the training comprise 2 parts:
– A period of 12 months instructional training followed by an intense 14 months technological training, using the state-of-the-art technology which is not found in many institutions, before going to the field for a period of 
– 10 months to qualify for the prestigious qualification of national Diploma.

Our Students do not Struggle to get practical training, from admission to the issuance of National Diploma, The College is in charge 

Design and Engineering Tools

MGM Learners / Student Complete education and obtain their qualification with an extensive design and engineering knowledge and Mastery of the state of the Art Design Technologies below. MGM-DETC offer Design technology or Design tools Software to it Students /Learners free of charge. The duration of the education license is one year renewable, up to 3 years.
