Qualification Description

Chemical Engineering N1 - N6

Chemical engineering is a certain type of engineering which applies physical sciences (physics and chemistry), life sciences (microbiology and biochemistry), together with applied mathematics and economics to produce, transform, transport, and properly use chemicals, materials and energy. Chemical engineering deals with the study of operation and design of chemical plants as well as methods of improving production. Chemical engineers develop economical commercial processes to convert raw material into useful products.

The object of this qualification is to provide the theory of Chemical Engineering. On completion of the theoretical training, the candidate will undergo an in intense 12 months practical training and 6 months work place training experience. On completion of the practical training, the candidate will complete a logbook and after final assessment, be awarded a National Certificate or Diploma in chemical engineering

Admission Requirements:

  • Grade 11 Statement of results with Mathematics, Science and English
  • Or equivalent qualification

Examination Eligibility

In order to be eligible to book a seat to write the National DHET Examinations in Civil Engineering, the Student / learner must meet the following requirements: 
– DP 40%
– Attendance 80%

Entry Requirements

Entry to N4

  • National Senior certificate Gr. 12 with min 40% in Maths, Science and English
  • Dully completed NATED N3
  • Dully completed NCV Level 4 (Rating 3)

Entry to N5

  • Dully completed  and all subject passed NATED N4 or 
  • Equivalent qualification

Entry to N6

  • Dully completed  and all subject passed NATED N5 or 
  • Equivalent qualification

Practical Skills Training

Practical training is a very important component in the Chemical  engineering education. at MGM-DPC we prepare our students / learners for workplace and professional life at early stages. We believe that practical experience is a desirable characteristic for engineers, we have put great effort to establish a relationship with privates’ entities to provide student / learners in variety of field where students can practice to prepare them for the future professional life.
Chemical engineering is essentially a practical career where the theoretical knowledge has to be always accompanied by practical applications. Therefore, the training comprise 2 parts: a period of 12 months instructional training followed by an intense 12 months technological training, using the state-of-the-art technology which is not found in many institutions, before going to the field for a period of 8 months to qualify for the prestigious qualification of national Diploma.
